Usage Notes

Scan the PDF417 barcode on the back of a California driver license or ID card. This tool is configured for 21+ age verification.

Most scanners function as a keyboard and will automatically paste the raw AAMVA barcode data into the field. The application will decode the data, calculate age from the date of birth, and display the result.

Important

This tool only evaluates the encoded date of birth and expiration date contained in the barcode.

It does not verify the authenticity of the ID, detect fraudulent documents, or confirm that the person presenting the ID is the rightful holder.

Camera / Photo Scanning

Some devices may allow barcode decoding from a camera photo using browser-based detection. Support varies by browser and device. Hardware scanners remain the most reliable and recommended method.
